About Rob

Rob Johnson has been playing music in and around Newburgh, NY since he picked up a guitar while in high school at Newburgh Free Academy — where classes called Guitar Rock Theory turned into an excuse to jam Beatles records with friends. Music stuck.

His first band, Something Fell…, formed in the summer of 1990. They played house parties, festivals, and venues across the Hudson Valley and recorded three independent releases before life pulled them in different directions. Over the years Rob picked up mandolin, lap steel, bass and ukulele, sat in with bands like Lucky House, and found his way back to performing solo.

In 2020 he started playing again — weekly virtual open mics during the pandemic — and hasn’t stopped since. Today he plays restaurants, bars, wineries, craft breweries, and community events across the Mid Hudson Valley.

About Treble Ahead Productions

One home for everything.

Treble Ahead Productions is the brainchild of Rob Johnson — a Newburgh, NY musician and internet radio programmer who wanted one place online that reflected everything he does.

The name comes from the road sign idea: something worth paying attention to is just ahead. The yellow diamond, the treble clef, the Hudson Valley address — it’s all Rob, and it’s all in one place.

Live music is the heart of it. Treble Ahead is also home to three hand-programmed internet radio stations and whatever comes next. The common thread is someone who takes the craft seriously — whether that means a Saturday night set at a winery or a late night deep cut on the radio.
